Mihintale
Mihintale is considered the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, where Buddhism was first introduced to the island in 247 BCE by Arahat Mahinda, son of Emperor Ashoka of India. This sacred mountain features ancient monasteries, stupas, and a grand staircase with 1,840 granite steps.
